doula services
I offer a complimentary consultation to tell you more about my doula services and learn more about your needs and wishes. This gives us an opportunity to decide if we're a good fit for each other! Once hired, as your birth doula I am honored to provide you with the following services.
prenatal
We will have two prenatal meetings during which we will discuss your birthing preferences, prepare a birth plan, and discuss and practice pain management techniques. During the entire time we work together, I am available for unlimited phone and email support throughout your pregnancy. I can also provide suggestions on prenatal exercises to prepare your body for birth as well as referrals and resources for alternative prenatal therapies if indicated.
during labor & delivery
During early labor we will be in close contact and I will offer suggestions that are appropriate for you based on your labor. When you are ready, I will join you, meeting you at your home, hospital or birth center depending on your preference and logistics at that time. During labor I will provide continuous physical & emotional support, and information to assist you in decision-making. I will support your partner/support person, offering suggestions, information, assistance, and reassurance. I will serve as a liaison between you and the hospital/birth center care team—establishing rapport, reminding them of your preferences, and helping you ask questions to ensure you have the information you need to make decisions.
I will remain with you immediately after you deliver to assist with initiating breastfeeding and other early postpartum needs.
postpartum
I will come to your home for a postpartum visit within the first week or so to process your birth experience, answer any questions you have, discuss your recovery, newborn care, and assist with breastfeeding if that is your wish.
